E-filed returns generally sit in Pending status for 24-48 hours before coming back as either Accepted or Rejected. Sometimes state returns stay in Pending for several days or even longer.

Why does my tax return still say Processing 2020?

Are there any tax returns that have been mailed back?

I mailed my tax returns and haven’t heard anything back. The IRS has just started to work through millions of mailed returns that have been piling up in trailers during the pandemic. All you can do is watch the IRS refund site to see when your return makes it to the surface and goes into processing.
